Dr. Michael Chan studied pre-med at the University of Washington, but decided to follow in the footsteps of his father, Dr. Austen Chan, DC, PhD, and become a chiropractor. He graduated from Palmer Chiropractic College West in 1999 and immediately joined his father in practice in Seattle. After his brother, Brian Chan, joined the practice, The Back and Neck Pain Centers, they immediately expanded to 4 clinics. Wanting to again follow his father’s footsteps, he shifted the focus of the clinics to motor vehicle collisions.
In 2009, Dr. Chan became advanced certified in Whiplash and Brain Injury Traumatology through the Spine Research Institute of San Diego which is headed by Dr. Arthur Croft, one of the world’s foremost experts on whiplash. Still wanting to expand his knowledge, in 2012, Dr. Chan attended Northwestern University where he became certified as a traffic accident reconstructionist. Northwestern University is world renowned for their accident reconstruction school. Since then, he has attended numerous crash reconstruction conferences where he designed, participated in, and analyzed live crash tests, most of which focused on low speed rear impact collisions. When not working, Dr. Chan enjoys spending time with his wife and 4 young boys!
