1 Program with Joanna S. Abelson

Joanne S. Abelson is a Managing Disciplinary Counsel with WSBA’s Office of Disciplinary Counsel. She received her B.A. from Brown University, M.A. in Psychology from the University of Michigan, and J.D. from Stanford Law School. After clerking for the Honorable Marilyn Hall Patel, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, she practiced for 10 years in San Francisco, first with a small litigation firm and then with the California Attorney General’s Office handling criminal appeals. She has been with ODC since 1996, where she investigates and prosecutes cases, manages an investigation/prosecution team, and coordinates the office’s appellate work. She was a reviewer for the Washington Legal Ethics Deskbook, is an author and editor for the updated Washington Appellate Practice Deskbook, and is a member of the Washington Appellate Lawyers Association.
