1 Program with Jason A. Baker

Jason A. Baker was born in Burien where he also went to Highline High School. He next earned his Bachelor of Arts (BA) from Humboldt State University in Arcata, California where he majored in Religious Studies, minored in International Relations, and completed pre-med coursework. He then went to Seattle University School of Law where his academic interests concentrated on international law, which led him to publish a chapter in the textbook Jurisprudence, by Christopher J. Roederer, 2004, entitled “Traditional Chinese Jurisprudence and its Relation to South African Thought.”

A transformative moment occurred at age 15 when he went to Washington, DC to see testimony before the US Senate on behalf of Boeing employees poisoned by toxic chemicals in the workplace. Birklid v. Boeing, 127 Wn.2d 853 (Wash. 1995). This experience cemented his keen sense of justice for the regular person against the big corporation, leading him directly to plaintiff’s personal injury work upon admission to the Washington State Bar in 2008.

He owned and operated his own downtown Seattle law office before moving to Vancouver, BC in 2013 to represent Canadians in Washington courts. He also founded SPAR from Canada.

In his spare time he enjoys road cycling, fitness swimming, hiking, camping, boating, and come winter he can’t get enough of BC’s magnificent skiing, including alpine, touring and skate where he now competes in loppets.
