STEPHANIE A. AREND was appointed by Governor Locke to Pierce County Superior Court, Department 12, on September 8, 1999. Prior to her appointment, she was a partner with Gordon, Thomas, Honeywell, Malanca, Peterson & Daheim, PLLC. As a lawyer, her practice focused on real estate and land use law. She appeared before hearing examiners, City and County Councils, the Growth Management Hearing Board, Superior Court, Court of Appeals, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Her bar and community activities include Barrister with the Puget Sound Inns of Court, President of Pierce County Young Lawyers, Trustee of WYLD, President of Tacoma Little Theatre, V-P Alverno Alumnae Association Board, and Member Intel Community Advisory Panel. She was a frequent speaker at CLE's and community forums, and spoke around the state on a variety of land use issues for the Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development.
Judge Arend received her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Puget Sound School of Law (1988), and her B.A., with honors, from Alverno College, Milwaukee WI (1985).
