MARK D. KAMITOMO’S practice is concentrated primarily in the areas of medical malpractice, nursing home negligence and product liability. He is a principle in the law firm of The Markam Group Inc., P.S. in Spokane.
Mr. Kamitomo received his JD from Gonzaga University School of Law in 1989. He is admitted to practice in the United States Supreme Court, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Washington, the United States District Court for the District of Hawaii. He has also practiced in Federal and State Courts in Texas, Nevada, Montana and Oregon. He is licensed to practice in Washington, Hawaii, Arizona and Idaho.
Mr. Kamitomo has had numerous multimillion dollar verdicts and settlements. Some of the awards have resulted in significant changes in the provision of medical care and product design.
Mr. Kamitomo is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, The American Academy of Trial Lawyers, The Damage Attorney’s Round Table (DART), The National Trial Lawyers Top 100, The Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, the Washington State Association for Justice, the Washington State Bar Association, the Arizona State Bar Association, the Hawaii Bar Association, the Idaho Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, the American Bar Association and the Spokane County Bar Association. In addition he has served on the Board of Advisors for the Gonzaga Law School, the Board of Trustees for the Litigation Section of the Washington State Bar Association, is on the Board of Governors for the Washington State Association for Justice and is a current board member and a past President of Spokane Youth Sports Association. He is the past Chair of the Legislative Steering Committee for WSAJ and is the past President of the Washington State Association for Justice.
Mr. Kamitomo is honored to have been named WSAJ’s Trial Lawyer of the Year for 2010 as well as honored to have been named in Washington Law & Politics as a Super Lawyer from 2003 to the present. He was also awarded the Washington State Association of Justice Professionalism Award in 2014. Additionally, he was voted Best Medical Malpractice Attorney by his peers in the Spokane, Coeur d’ Alene Living magazine as well as named Top Attorney in Washington by Seattle Met Magazine in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. He has also been named in the Best Lawyers of America for 2014 and 2015. He is a frequent speaker on issues involving Medical Malpractice, Nursing Home Litigation, Product Liability and Racial Issues in the legal system.
