CARLA TACHAU LAWRENCE is Of Counsel to the Perey Law Group, PLLC, and does legal research and writing for other firms. She was part of the team led by Ron Perey that prevailed in Putman v. Wenatchee Valley Medical Center, 166 Wn.2d 974, 216 P.3d 374 (2009), in which the court struck down the statute requiring plaintiffs suing health care providers to file a certificate of merit with their complaint.
Ms. Tachau Lawrence received her J.D. from the Yale Law School in 1983 and an A.B. in History
from Brown University in 1978, as well as a Diploma in Social Administration from the London
School of Economics the same year. She has served as law clerk to Judge Mary Kay Becker (1994-
95) and Judge H. Joseph Coleman (1984-85) of the Washington State Court of Appeals, and to Judge Thomas S. Zilly (1988-90) of the Western District of Washington. She was an associate at Lane Powell (1985-88) and regulatory counsel at Washington Mutual (1990-93).
Ms. Tachau Lawrence is an avid amateur musician, playing modern flute, piccolo, and baroque flute.
