Summary

Introduction to Autonomous Vehicle Technologies
A look into the technology used to reduce or replace the interaction of a human operating a vehicle. Roland Hoover uncovers the systems and sensors hidden underneath the exterior of vehicles with automated driving controls and describes the integration of the sensors, the programming of the controllers, and use of the surrounding environment. Roland will give examples of the virtual and physical testing and validation performed at the OEM level, and introduce the breadth of vehicles using Autonomous technology beyond passenger cars.

Fundamentals of Biomechanical Injury Causation
Biomechanics is the science of how the human body responds to forces. In this presentation, Dr. Albert introduces the audience to the field of injury biomechanics and discusses the role of a biomechanics expert in investigating traumatic injuries. Using the example of an actual forensic investigation, Dr. Albert provides an overview of how biomechanical engineers determine if pathological loading was generated during an event to cause the claimed injuries.
