Remote Depositions - The Future is Now

Published by Washington State Association for Justice

Summary

Although remote depositions have been taking place for years, the circumstances created by the COVID-19 pandemic have dramatically increased the frequency of their use. This program will discuss practical tips on how to make sure that your remote deposition goes smoothly so that you can gather the evidence that you need while preventing the opposing party from taking advantage of the fact that you are “not in the same room”. Because of the opposition to remote depositions being raised by many insurance carriers and defense counsel, the program will include citations to orders from courts around the country requiring depositions be taken remotely. It will provide suggestions on what you can do to make sure that you get a clear record and unfiltered testimony from the witness.
