LONNQUIST is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College and the University of Chicago Law School. She is the former General Counsel to the Washington Education Association and in 1986, founded the Law Offices of Judith A. Lonnquist, P.S. Since 1966 she has specialized in plaintiffs' employment and civil rights law, with an occasional foray into traditional labor law, and campaign finance law. She is a founder of the Northwest Women's Law Center (Legal Voice) and served as National Legal Vice President to the National Organization for Women, and as a member of Washington State's Gender & Justice Taskforce. Ms. Lonnquist is a member and EAGLE of Washington State Association for Justice (WSAJ), NELA, ABA, WSBA, and is a Fellow in the ABA College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. She has served as Chair of the Washington Employment Lawyers Association, on the WSAJ Board of Governors and on the Executive Committee for the WSBA Litigation Section. She has been listed in Best Lawyers in America, named one of Seattle's "100 Most Powerful Women," and annually as a "Top Super Lawyer" by Washington Law & Politics and as a member of the National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Trial Lawyers since 2014. After graduation, he served as a law clerk for the Honorable Gerry L. Alexander, Chief Justice of the Washington Supreme Court.James has achieved verdicts for individuals in both Washington’s state and federal courts. Before moving to Washington in 1986, she graduated from Chaminade University cum laude. In 1989 she graduated from Seattle University School of Law (formerly the University of Puget Sound School of Law).Virginia’s practice is devoted to representing individuals hurt by others. She handles a variety of claims including serious automobile collisions, nursing home neglect, insurance bad faith, employment discrimination, retaliation, sexual harassment, wrongful termination, and representing individuals in Employment Security Department proceedings.

She is very active in the Washington State Association for Justice, Washington Employment Lawyers Association and the Tacoma-Pierce County Bar Association. She is the 2nd Vice President of the CLE Committee for the Washington State Association for Justice. In addition, she has served on the Board of Directors for the Tacoma-Pierce County Bar Association.

Virginia is a frequent lecturer and author on litigation topics in personal injury and employment law. She is a contributing author to the Washington State Bar Association Washington Motor Vehicle Accident Desk Book and Washington State Association for Justice’s Employment Law Deskbook (2004 and 2013).

The Washington State Association for Justice awarded Virginia the “Professionalism Award” - an award given to one attorney statewide each year. The Award reads: “In recognition of your leadership in promoting professionalism, bringing dignity, pride and honor to the legal profession.”

In her spare time, Virginia enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, decorating, and working out. She also volunteers her time and energy to a variety of causes helping others.    Collapse

Bob received his J.D. from New York University School of Law in 1995. He earned a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Washington, where he was student body president. Bob began his legal career in Spokane where he served as a law clerk for Chief Judge W. Fremming Nielsen of the Federal District Court for Eastern Washington. He then clerked for Judge Myron Bright of the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals in the Midwest. Ferguson returned to Seattle and joined Preston, Gates, and Ellis (now K&L Gates), one of Washington's leading law firms.In 2003, Bob was elected to the King County Council. In 2005, after the council was reduced from 13 to nine and Bob's district was eliminated, he was re-elected. He was unopposed in 2009.
Bob is a fourth-generation Washingtonian. His family homesteaded on the beautiful Skagit River, which may explain why Bob is such an enthusiastic mountain climber, backpacker, and birder. He has hiked hundreds of miles of Washington trails and climbed many of the state's highest peaks.
Bob is an internationally-rated chess master. His games have appeared in local, national and international chess publications. Bob has twice won the Washington State Chess Championship.
Bob, his wife Colleen and their twins, Jack and Katie, reside in the Maple Leaf neighborhood of North Seattle.   Collapse

Before she was admitted to practice law in 1979, she had a career in human resources and civil rights as a Personnel Analyst, and Investigative Supervisor for the Idaho Human Rights Commission and Lead Investigator for the Oregon Bureau of Labor and consulted with attorneys on class action discrimination cases.

She graduated from the UW Law School in 1979, the Gerry Spence Trial Lawyer’s College in 1998, and has attended many graduate programs. She has practiced “pro hac vice” in other states. Some of her appellate cases include States v. the Boeing Company, disability discrimination; Gay v. Snohomish County, disability discrimination; Rich v. Bellevue School District, age discrimination; Bunch v. King County Department of Youth Services, 155 Wn. 2d 165 (2005) race discrimination and retaliation; and Gregoire v. City of Oak Harbor, 244 P. 3d 924, 170 Wash. 2d 628 (2010) wrongful death in custody. She has been lead counsel on complex cases and jury trials against governments and corporations. She teaches legal education seminars including programs on various aspects of trial practice, pretrial motions, discrimination and sexual harassment, and disability accommodation. She teaches “Compelling Voice, Compelling Story” with Kimberly White.

She consults regarding case and trial preparation and witness preparation. She routinely assists other trial attorneys in support of their jury trials.   Collapse

Previous to...MoreLARRY SHANNON is the Government Affairs Director for the Washington State Association for Justice, and has held that role since 1994. He serves as director of all legislative, electoral, and public affairs activities of the organization. Previous to serving in this position, he served as a Lobbyist, Development Director and Public Affairs Director for WSTLA/WSAJ. Prior to his directorships at WSTLA, he spent six years working in the Consumer Protection Division of the Washington State Attorney General’s Office.

He served as special liaison on the Washington State Bar Association Board of Governors from 1994 to 1998. Larry is also a board member of Washington Community Action Network, the largest consumer organization in the state for over 20 years, and is also involved in numerous community groups, including as a board member for the Washington Coalition for Open Government. Larry also served as the national chair of the Public Affairs Education Programs for the National Association of Trial Lawyer Executives, and is an Executive Officer of their Justice Research Center. He was recognized in 2005 by Washington “Law and Politics” magazine as one of the top five lobbyists in the state. For his efforts on behalf of consumers and the Civil Justice System, Larry has been recognized with the prestigious Washington State Trial Lawyers Association President’s Award (1997), Washington Community Action Network (WA CAN) Board Member of the Year (2002), and a recipient of the WSAJ Pillar of Justice Award (2007). In 2014 he also received the prestigious “AAJ State Partner of the Year,” the first non Executive Director to be recognized with that award.

A native of the Seattle area, he is a UW Husky with a degree in political science and history. Larry is married to Jan Simonds and they have three gorgeous children. Before sending his children off to college and adulthood, Larry was involved as a boy’s baseball and girl’s soccer and basketball coach from the little leagues to the high school and AAU level in the Seattle area. He was President and founder of the Ballard American Legion athletic program. Jesse is a WSAJ Eagle, serves actively on the Legislative Steering Committee of WSAJ, and is the author of chapters on “Wrongful Discharge in Violation of Public Policy” and “Ethics” in WSAJ’s Washington Employment Law Deskbook (2009) and on “Fair Housing” in WSAJ’s Civil Rights Law Deskbook (2011).
