JAN ERIC PETERSON, WSTLA President, '82-'83, has been a partner in the Seattle law firm ofPeterson, Young, Putra since its founding, in 1973. His practice focuses on personal injury, medical negligence, and product liability. With his partner, Fred Zeder, he achieved a 1998 product liability/premises verdict of $11 million in Benton County. The firm was named WSTLA's Trial Lawyer of the Year as a result of this case.

Mr. Peterson is Past President of the Washington State Bar Association, Past President of theDamage Attorneys Round Table, Past President of the Washington Chapter of the American Boardof Trial Advocates, has served on the Board of Directors for the Legal Foundation of Washington,is a past delegate of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and is a fellow of the AmericanCollege of Trial Lawyers. He is listed in Best Lawyers in America and by Seattle Magazine as among the best lawyers in Seattle.

A graduate of Stanford University, he received a Juris Doctor from the University of Washington in1969. He served two years as staff counsel for the American Civil Liberties Union of Washingtonand prior to that was an OEO Legal Services neighborhood lawyer. He entered private practice in 1972 as an associate of Daniel Sullivan before founding his current firm.
