Summary

Sydney Codd and Mallory Allen will be discussing the importance of using lay witness testimony to build up personal injury cases and the potential ethical considerations attorneys may come across along the way. They will discuss which types of witnesses to obtain testimony (and which ones you cannot) and practice tips for how to identify them to help your case. They will also discuss the ethical considerations of how to contact them and use their testimony, and how the testimony is useful in personal injury cases, especially against an institutional or corporate defendant. This is a helpful tool because lay witness testimony is relatable to a jury and inexpensive. Sydney and Mallory plan to share practical tips and personal experiences of how this has worked in their favor in a variety of types of cases, including medical malpractice, premises liability, motor vehicle collisions, and sexual abuse cases.
